FACT-CHECK: Viral X post claiming a 12-year-old had a baby for 60-year-old Pakistani husband is False

GhanaFact checks showed that the video was shared from a Vietnamese hospital and was first posted on TikTok in 2024. The girl in question was neither a wife nor a mother.

A 43-second video showing a little girl carrying a newborn while lying in a hospital bed has been shared on X, suggesting the girl is 12 years old and she had the baby with a 60-year-old Pakistani husband.

The video caption read: “Islam is a Cult Religion. How sad. A shocking case has emerged in Pakistan where a 11-year-old girl. Married to 60 year old man and when she’s 12 born a baby…! Really Islam is s*xual child abuse religion..!”

The video shared on September 2, 2025, got 15.9 million views, 12,000 comments, 38,000 reshares, 98,000 likes, and was bookmarked 16,000 times. 

This fact-check seeks to verify the accuracy of the claim. 

Fact-check

To verify, GhanaFact used Google Lens to trace the origin of the video and find the context in which it first appeared on the internet. 

GhanaFact traced the video to a TikTok user –  baongoc._.93 who shared the video on August, 9, 2024, with the caption: “The older sister weighs 700g and the younger sister weighs 900g. Mom’s two lovely angels. The two are grown up now and understand their mother very well.” 

The post had 2.1 million likes, 24.2K comments, 132K bookmarks and 141K shares since the video emerged. 

The original video is 2 minutes and 51 seconds long, and shows another person whose legs appear to be a woman’s in a green dress sitting at the foot of the bed. Meanwhile, another significant verification point is a map on the video showing that the video was captured at Long An Paediatrics Hospital · Tan An, a hospital located in Vietnam.

GhanaFact noted the TikTok user with 159.9K followers pinned three different videos of the children on her page between August 9 and August 11, 2024. 

The video shared on August 11, 2024, showed an elderly woman carrying the baby on her chest while speaking in Vietnamese.  Comments suggest the woman was the mother of the children.

Verdict

Therefore, the claim that a 60-year-old Pakistani married a young girl of age 11 and had a baby with her at age 12 is false.
