Verdict: False
Researched by Nusrat Essah
A press release claiming that President John Dramani Mahama had announced his first ministerial reshuffle was widely circulated on social media. The document was dated June 5, 2026 and titled; “President Mahama Announces Ministerial and Deputy Ministerial Changes.”
The document, with the signature of government spokesperson and Minister of Government Communications, had the letterhead and format of the Presidency’s press releases. It listed a number of ministers and deputy ministers who have allegedly been reassigned or removed, as well as a list of new entrants into the government.
The claim about a reshuffle gained significant traction across social media platforms, with some users presenting the document as an official communication from the Presidency while others questioned its authenticity.

Pro-NPP platforms including NPP Official and NPP 2028 amplified the statement on Facebook, gaining significant engagement. On X, a user shared the document and captioned it: “This is the Original List.” By the time this article was published, the post had gained 16.6K views.
But did President Mahama announce a ministerial reshuffle?
Fact-Check
In this report, we will give a step-by-step route to helping authenticate whether a piece of information allegedly coming from an official source is true or not.
1. Check official channels – social media handles, websites
GhanaFact reviewed the official communication channels of the Presidency, including its website and social media accounts and other government communication platforms, and found no record of the purported ministerial reshuffle.
2. Check if any credible media outlets have reported
With respect to the reshuffle claim, no credible media organisation reported any such reshuffle. Aside from the conventional media outlets, one could also check with fact-checking organizations or with journalists they know.
3. Check whether other parties have issued a statement
Further checks showed that the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) had commented on the circulating document and urged the public to disregard it. In a press statement signed by the Deputy National Communication Officer of the NDC, Godwin Ako Gunn, the party cautioned against what it described as “deliberate misinformation” and advised the public to verify any information regarding a reshuffle through official government communication channels.
“Kindly disregard any news of a reshuffle,” the statement said, adding that Felix Kwakye Ofosu remains the official spokesperson for the administration.

Therefore, the purported press release announcing major ministerial and deputy ministerial changes is fake. President Mahama or the Presidency has not announced such a reshuffle.
GhanaFact reached out to Godwin Ako Gunn to confirm if the June 6 press release was indeed issued under his hand since the document was not shared on known NDC handles but our inquiry did not get a response by the time of publication.
Verdict
The claim is False and the circulating document is Fake.
