Fact-Check

Using Reverse Image Search, GhanaFact found the picture being circulated was captured in Dallas in the United States of America during a shooting incident on July 7, 2016 and our investigation identified the wounded victim as Shetamia Taylor.

According to a report by The Sun, Shetamia Taylor was shot in the calf as she attempted to shield her son during a shooting spree and the headline of the story said: “A HEROIC mum became a human shield when she risked her own life to save her son – as bullets fired into a crowd of protesters in Dallas.”

Later it was confirmed that 25-year-old, Micah Xavier Johnson, was the active shooter who targetted and killed 5 police officers and injured some bystanders which included  Shetamia Taylor.
