The image of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Evelyn Aidoo, also known as Serwaa Broni, allegedly in a private jet, has resurfaced on social media, but this time, in video format.
The video posted on Facebook shows Akufo-Addo seated by a bed, signing a document, with Serwaa Broni sitting nearby on the bed. While Akufo-Addo’s right hand appears to be signing the document, Serwaa Broni waves and appears to be scribbling on the document Akufo-Addo is signing.
The video, first shared on June 16, 2025 by the GH i ONE page, is an animated version of a viral image previously posted by the same account in 2022, and debunked by GhanaFact. The post has garnered 2.8 million views, 775 comments and 16,000 likes.
This facebook account has a history of sharing AI-generated videos of public officials, mostly targeting former President Akufo-Addo.

The 2022 image debunked by GhanaFact
In April 2022, GhanaFact identified the photo after it went viral following Serwaa Broni’s public outburst about her alleged encounters with Akufo-Addo.

Using multiple image verification tools, including Google reverse image search and InVID verification, GhanaFact investigated the image and found that it had been digitally altered.
The background was taken from a real photo of a luxury jet, while the image of the former president was lifted from a separate event where he was signing the E-Levy bill.
Forensic tools revealed inconsistencies confirming the photo had been manipulated to create a false impression. (Read the full report here.)
A recycled claim, now animated by AI
Meanwhile, in June 2025, the same doctored image resurfaced in a video format, per our checks a deep fake.
Deepfake technology was used to transform the image into the video, creating movements and gestures, making it appear as though Akufo-Addo and Serwaa Broni were real. This recreation gives the false content new life and justification for the re-circulation of the content.
AI and politics
This video is a part of a broader trend where there is an increased use of AI to create politically inclined disinformation. Previously, manipulation was largely limited to altered static images and audio recordings.
Today, technology has evolved significantly; AI tools, including deepfake technology, can convincingly simulate real people speaking, moving, and behaving in lifelike ways.
GhanaFact has monitored a surge in AI-generated content designed to politically discredit opponents, sway public opinion, boost engagement, and politically mock opponents. This was particularly evident during the 2024 elections, when AI-generated content was used in political propaganda.
A more recent instance of AI-generated misinformation content was during the dollar-gift saga involving the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (Goldbod), Sammy Gyamfi, and Patricia Asiedua (Nana Agradaa).
Conclusion
The circulating video portraying the former president and Serwaa Broni is an inauthentic content. It is AI-generated, using a previously doctored image from 2022.
This is a classic case of recycled misinformation, updated using advanced technology to drive negative public sentiment.
