Fact-check
On Thursday, February 12, 2026, British News outlets (here, here, and here) reported that Thomas Partey had been charged with additional counts of rape, the latest in his ongoing case.
“Thomas Partey, the former Arsenal midfielder, has been charged with two new counts of rape. Partey, 32, faces trial in November after denying raping two women and sexually assaulting a third woman. The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised two additional counts of rape against Partey,” The Telegraph reported.
The news reports did not state that Partey had been sent to jail based on the additional charges. The footballer has been on bail since his first appearance in court on rape charges last year, with his trial set for November 2, 2026.
We further tested the authenticity of the image in the viral post, using Google Gemini to determine whether it was AI-generated. Gemini’s response indicated that the image was generated or edited using Google AI.
“The image appears to depict the footballer Thomas Partey being led by police. While it is true that Thomas Partey has faced legal proceedings and charges in the UK as recently as 2025 and 2026, this specific image is not an authentic news photograph,” the platform said.

Hive moderation, another AI-detection tool, also confirmed that the image was likely deepfake content.

Verdict
The claim that Thomas Patey has been taken to jail is false, and the image is AI-generated.
