Videos of President John Dramani Mahama and his brother, Ibrahim Mahama, purportedly endorsing an investment platform called AfriQuantumX, have been widely circulated on Facebook.
A supposed Facebook account of Ibrahim Mahama shared one such video, showing the logo of Ghanaweb in the top right corner and Channel One TV’s crawler with content promoting the said investment platform.
The caption of the Facebook post read in part; “Ibrahim Mahama Speaks to Ghanaians. My brothers and sisters, I know the struggle. I grew up seeing families fight against rising prices, unstable jobs, and the feeling that no matter how hard you work — it is never enough. That is why I decided to support AfriQuantumX. This is not for the elites — this is for ordinary Ghanaians who deserve a fair chance at a better life.”

In analyzing the particular Ibrahim Mahama account that made the AfriQuantumX post, we found that it had 1.8K followers. When we dug into the page transparency feature of the page, we discovered that it was created on August 13, 2023 with the name Hong Que. The page name was changed to Ibrahim Mahama on September 30, 2025 – eight days before the AfriQuantumX post was put up.

In the 2 minutes and 34 seconds video attached to the post, Ibrahim Mahama, speaks at length about understanding the pain of today’s Ghana, citing the impact of inflation on salaries and other earnings. “In such conditions, the need for a new solution is clear. That’s exactly why AfriQuantumX was created,” he said.
Another video which featured President Mahama’s supposed endorsement of the same platform, was shared by a Facebook account, News 24/7. This video was a collage of the President speaking, an image of the 5000 old Ghanaian currency, and also the logo of Channel One TV.
In the 1-minute and 58-second video, the President is also heard lamenting similar challenges raised by his brother, “I know the pain of today’s Ghana. Inflation eats your salaries. Prices of food, rent and transport rise faster than your income. Many hardworking families are left without stability or hope. That is why AfriQuantumX was created. It is not just another program. It is a transparent anti-corruption platform.”

This report aims to verify the authenticity of these videos and determine whether the president and his brother have endorsed any investment platform.
Investigating the links attached to the posts
GhanaFact noted that two website links pereseptestart.online and solerseptvibes.buzz- attached to the Facebook posts of Ibrahim Mahama and President Mahama.
Upon clicking the links, they open to a cloned citinewsroom.com news website with an article headlined as: “Exclusive Revelation! Ibrahim Mahama unveils the secret of turning just 3,000 GHS into 120,000 GHS a year by investing in the new AfriQuantumX platform.”

According to the image embedded in the article, Ibrahim Mahama made this revelation on The Point View, a popular show on Channel One TV, a sister station of Citi FM, with the crawler displaying some telephone numbers and the location.
Using WHOIS Information for the domain – pereseptestart.online, GhanaFact found that the name of the registrar has been redacted, but noted that the platform was registered on September 3, 2025 and set to expire same date next year.

Also, for the second website- solerseptvibes.buzz, WHOIS information revealed that this platform has the same registration date as the one above.

This shows the platforms are likely being operated from the same quarters or by the same individual behind the scheme.
Verifying authenticity of the endorsement videos
To verify the authenticity of the videos, GhanaFact traced the sources and found that the supposed endorsement speeches were AI-generated and a manipulation of authentic videos.
The investigation into Ibrahim Mahama’s video traced it to a 2018 GRASAG Entrepreneurship Seminar, organised by the Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana (GRASAG). GhanaFact noted that the manipulated video was cropped out of the 16-minute and 45-second-long speech of Ibrahim Mahama at the Seminar, uploaded by GhanaWeb on April 18, 2018.
In the original video, Ibrahim Mahama spoke about his entrepreneurship journey, experience and politics. “In Ghana, we have the best talent, I hear politicians saying we don’t have the capacity. It’s a lie. If they don’t want to know, we know. There is nothing in this country that any Ghanaian can never do, but unfortunately, we are limited,” he partly said in his speech.

Investigating the video of President Mahama, GhanaFact found that the doctored video was cropped out of President Mahama’s first media encounter since assuming office on January 7, 2025.

In response to the video, Rafik Mahama, aide to Ibrahim Mahama, has denied any relationship between Ibrahim Mahama and AfriQuantumX. The Facebook post by 1957News attributed the following quote to Rafik Mahama.
“Disregard the AI-generated videos being circulated by faceless individuals or sources claiming Mr Ibrahim Mahama is involved in any investment scheme or cryptocurrency trading; he is not on Facebook or TikTok.”
GCB Bank issues similar disclaimer on AfriQuantumX
According to an Africa Check report, the AfriQuantumX platform has also aligned itself with the state-owned GCB Bank, an association the bank has publicly disclaimed via a statement posted on its verified Instagram page.
“The post misuses the bank’s logo, shows an unrelated video and directs users to a non-GCB website … The Bank advises the public not to click, not to share personal or banking details, and not to transfer funds in response to this post,” the bank said.
Verdict
Therefore, claims that Ibrahim Mahama has launched an investment platform are false, a scam, and the videos have been identified as AI-manipulated.
