Has government constructed a new sports stadium in Koforidua, the capital city of the Eastern Region?

A picture of a newly constructed sports stadium has been shared on Facebook and portrayed as being the latest addition to the country’s sports infrastructure executed by the government.

“Newly constructed Koforidua Sports Stadium. Ready for commission,” is the caption of the post that displays the picture of the newly built stadium shared by a Facebook user seeking to tout the achievements of the current government.

However, further checks by GhanaFact show the Ghana government has refurbished the Koforidua Sports Stadium (here).

“Growing up in Koforidua, I used to play football at that stadium. I will say it was refurbished and not something which is newly constructed,” Neil Nii Karnaku who is a resident of Koforidua and has lived most of his life in the regional capital clarified in an interview with GhanaFact.
