Non-Executive Directors
Professor Jane Singer is a former print and online journalist who has been studying journalists’ responses to digital technologies since the mid-1990s. She is especially interested in the impact of digital media on journalists’ roles, norms, practices and products. She is currently a Professor of Journalism Innovation, City, University of London. Her previous academic appointments have been at the University of Central Lancashire (UK), the University of Iowa (USA) and Colorado State University (USA). Prior to earning her PhD in journalism at the University of Missouri (USA), she served as the founding news manager of the first national online service in America.
Dr. Wunpini is a former radio journalist who has written for various digital media platforms in Ghana and the US. Some of her work has appeared on Al Jazeera, Global Voices, Africasacountry and Okay Africa. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia teaching and conducting research in the field of international communications. She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Ghana, a master’s degree from Michigan Technological University, and a Ph.D. in Mass Communications with a minor in Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies from the Pennsylvania State University. She has worked on research projects on the corporate social responsibility work of telecommunications companies in Ghana, radio news production and reception in Northern Ghana, digital media activism among others. Among other things, her research interests focus on feminisms, development communication, broadcast media, new media and film.
Demba Kandeh (@D_Kandeh)
Demba Kandeh is currently a lecturer and researcher at the School of Journalism and Digital Media, University of The Gambia. He also manages communication for Afrobarometer research in The Gambia under the Center for Policy, Research and Strategic Studies. He has over ten years experience in journalism and media in The Gambia and abroad. As a journalist and blogger, his work has appeared in various national and international organizations including Global Voices, The Guardian, Today, Press TV, GISWatch, etc. Demba completed his undergraduate studies in Political Science and English Language at the University of The Gambia and postgraduate in media, journalism and politics at Arhus University (Denmark) and University of Amsterdam (the Netherlands).
Dr. Teke Jacob Ngomba
Teke Ngomba is currently an associate professor of media studies at the Department of Media and Journalism Studies at Aarhus University, Denmark. His research in the fields of political communication; communication and social change and journalism and media studies, has been published in several international peer-reviewed journals. In 2008, he earned a joint MA in Journalism and Media Studies, from Aarhus University, Denmark and University of Hamburg, Germany.

Rabiu Alhassan (@al_rabiu)
Rabiu is an experienced journalist with a demonstrable history of working in television, radio, print and digital media for more than a decade and a winner of the prestigious Erasmus Mundus scholarship. With a diverse reporting background including business and Finance, politics and court reporting, he has worked for Ghana’s leading TV and radio stations TV3 and Citi FM. Rabiu also worked as a digital journalist contributing content to Citifmonline and Ringier. He holds a joint master’s degree in Business and Finance and Journalism, Media and Globalization from City, University of London in UK and Aarhus University in Denmark.
Tracy is a digital journalist working in fact-checking and efforts to tackle disinformation across West Africa. Tracy is a Misinformation/Media Literacy Trainer and has built a portfolio of work in health, governance, politics, economics, environment and synthetic content reporting. With a background in mainstream journalism, Tracy worked with State Broadcaster, Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) and Citi FM/Citi TV, a leading private media organisation in Ghana as a traditional and digital reporter. She holds a Bachelor’s in Communication Studies from the country’s premier journalism training institution, the University of Media Arts and Communication-Ghana Institute of Journalism (UniMAC-GIJ).
Sedem Kwasigah is a multi-skilled individual focused on open-source intelligence and digital forensics. With an educational background in forensic science, Sedem’s experience spans roles in investigative research, fact-checking, investigative journalism, and academia. He was a fellow of MFWA’s Next Generation Investigative Journalism Fellowship. He has the desire to transform Ghanaian society through technology and journalism. Research Associate & Graphic Designer
Benjamin Tenkorang is an in-depth multimedia journalist who has strong interest in graphics and global media practice. He is a diploma holder in Communication Studies and a degree holder in Journalism. Currently, Benjamin serves as a research associate and graphics designer at FactSpace West Africa. He stands for Integrity, Social Justice and Anti-corruption.
Alfa has been in the digital news space for close to a decade having previously worked with GhanaWeb as a senior journalist and English desk lead at Africanews – a bilingual pan-African channel currently operating from Lyon, France. He holds a degree in Communication Studies from the University of Media, Arts and Communications – Institute of Journalism (UniMAC-IJ) and a French Language proficiency certificate (DELF-DALF, Basic) from Alliance Française, Accra. His professional journey started in 2009 when he worked with a private newspaper, the New Crusading GUIDE, before transiting to documentary script writing and investigative reporting for five years. Shaban is also a digital rights and digital literacy advocate who is interested in international relations especially Africa’s relations with the world.
Awa Macalo is a journalist from The Gambia. She studied journalism at the University of The Gambia and has gained valuable experience working with various media houses and newspapers in the country. Awa has also served as a communication specialist for a security services company. She is a dedicated, self-driven individual who thrives on collaboration and possesses exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Awa is the country focal person for FactSpace West Africa.
Hamza Ibrahim is a Nigerian journalist and fact-checker with expertise in analyzing the insecurity-related disinformation ecosystem. He is currently the focal person for FactSpace West Africa in Nigeria.
Kemo Cham is an award-winning journalist based in Freetown, Sierra Leone. He has worked as a journalist in four countries in West Africa – Gambia, Senegal, Mali and now Sierra Leone. He is co-founder and editor of ManoReporters, an online digital platform in Freetown, Sierra Leone which focuses on the four Mano River Union countries, including Guinea, Liberia and Cote d’Ivoire. He also contributes as freelancer to several international media outlets, including the Nation Media Group of Kenya (NMG), The Associated Press and the German News Agency, dpa. A Gambian by nationality, Cham started his career in Gambia, where he attended the University of the Gambia from 2003 to 2007 and then worked at the defunct Daily Observer newspaper from 2007 to 2009. Between 2009 and 2011, he lived and work in Senegal and Mali, before relocating to Sierra Leone where he has lived since then. Cham is a member of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists and coordinator of two science and health-based journalism networks – the Kombra Media Network and the Health Reporters Network Sierra Leone. He is also a member of the Internews Health Journalism Network.
Salifu Abdul Rahman is a dedicated and results-driven Project Manager with extensive experience in Communication and Digital for Development. Holding an MSc. in Project Management from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and a BA in Community Development from the University for Development Studies, Salifu brings a solid academic foundation to his professional endeavours. Previously serving as an Assistant Program/Platform Manager at Viamo Technologies Inc., Salifu demonstrated proficiency in coordinating cross-functional teams, ensuring on-time project milestones, and providing valuable insights to stakeholders. Currently, as the Lead Project Manager at FactSpace West Africa, he spearheads the development of innovative fact-checking tools to debunk misinformation and coordinates training initiatives across Nigeria, Liberia, Gambia, and Sierra Leone.
